Terra
A management system for autonomous software production.
Terra addresses a practical question: now that autonomous systems can carry out substantial engineering work, how should that work be managed? Our answer is management in the industrial sense of the word: planning, dispatch, supervision, verification and record-keeping, implemented as software.
Terra is the operations layer of our production systems. It takes goals set by its operator and organises them into scheduled work, dispatches that work to automated design, build and test systems, collects the results, and verifies them before they are accepted. All activity is recorded and auditable.
Operator direction and ownership
Terra is designed around a strict separation of responsibilities. Direction, engineering judgement and legal ownership of the output remain with the operator. The system works exclusively with credentials the operator holds, executes only work the operator has authorised, and produces records the operator can audit in full.
We describe this as production rather than generation because it covers the complete engineering cycle: testing, revision, documentation and release control, not only the initial creation of code. Terra's function is to keep that cycle running reliably over long periods of continuous operation.
Programme structure
Terra is supported by two related projects. Terra Turbo HyperCat is our operations fork of the HyperCat runtime, maintained for performance and observability under Terra's workloads. The Terra Operating Environment provides the suite with a minimal, reproducible Linux platform.
The system is designed for extension. Integrations with external services use credentials held by the operator, and the extension interfaces are built so that third-party components run under explicit permission controls.
Status
Terra is in active development and its repositories are private during this phase. Components that mature into standalone tools are published through the Releases page.
